5 for Friday (...that's how it goes...right?)

1.  I am freezing people. It's nearly the end of April and it was spitting snow here today!

2. We are consistently doing Daily 4 (yeah...can't quite do all 5...barely have time for the 4 I do!)

I was confused when it came to switching my groups. I wanted to do the D4 stations back-to-back...but I'm also a tiny bit of a control freak. I assign kids to a group but they have choice within that group. Here is a pic of the PowerPoint I created to rotate the groups. I blurred out the student names but there is a timer inserted into the .ppt and it chimes. When the chime goes off the kids clean up their activity and the next slide shows them their new activity. I did a youtube video of how I originally set this up. I've prettied it up since then and tweaked it a bit to fit my classroom needs. If you're interested in the new .ppt let me know. The original bare bones template is on TpT and I can see about adding this one. (I'll contact or source the creator of the graphics.)

3. I did it...I broke down and bought a small home laminator.

I bought it at Target. I've had my eye on it for a while. The school one is still out of commission and it's rumored we're getting a new one but I'm not sure when that'll take place. I needed my center stuff asap. I also bought some extra sheets (I'll be ordering them on Amazon next time). I am in love with the thickness and quality of the laminated product. I laminated 52 sheets last night and my little machine kept on chugging. (lol, silently that is.)
(These centers are from Mel D and can be found here: Spring-a-licious ELA & Math Unit (Common Core Aligned) )

4. I keep seeing the Ancestry.com commercial. I'm so interested in learning about my ancestry. I downloaded the app on my iPad and started playing around. Someone had filled out some info on my paternal grandparents lineage. I got to see pics, several US censuses, draft cards, etc. I found out my great great grandfather was a Civil War soldier. It was so neat.
Have you used this app/website? Right now I'm a free member but it is quite interesting. I think I'm going to talk to my mom about her side of the family and hopefully I can find out more. I might pay for a month over the summer to see how much I can dig up!

5. I am quite excited about this one!
I've been asked to be a collaborator on a new blog! It'll be a collaboration of several bloggers where we share tips, ideas, photos, and freebies. I'm very excited about this. I'll be posting about this soon when I can share more details.

Wow you had a busy week! And I'm with you - can't quite get to all four dailies (at least not with this group!)

I am very envious of the home laminator, I may have to do it too! Sorry for the cold, I guess I will stop complaining about it only being in the 70's...

Busy working now, should have big news about the collaborative blog by next Friday I hope!
