Time to empty that wish list!

I'm TOTALLY participating in the Back to School TpT sale. It's timing is perfect because the sale on TpT is August 4th-5th. Well, those are our two teacher work days and my wish list is full. They should really put a max on that thing...but then I'd be sad. 

So I'll be shopping, printing, and laminating preparing for my new batch of firsties. Right now I'm hovering around 22/23 kiddos but that always fluctuates.

I went into school today for the first times since saying goodbye for break. I tried to give myself all of June without doing school things--and I succeeded. Unless of course you count Pinterest...but I don't.

Well now it's July....well over a week into July and I feel like I've dropped the ball. I went in today and unboxed some things but really I wanted to execute this bulletin board idea I had in my head. :D

Five For Friday: Back to School (freebie)

Hello blog land. I am tucker out! It was our first week of school!

1.  Back to School
On Monday we had a teacher work day and meetings. I had to do the rest of my setting up, tidying, and tucking away junk I didn't want anyone to see. ;) Then Monday night was meet the teacher night. One hour of first impressions, pleasantries, small talk, and hoping kids didn't run amuck in my classroom because they're parents were there.

This year I have 19 kiddos. More than last year, fewer than years before. So, I can deal. However I had like 6 families not even come to Meet the Teacher night! (last year I had 100% attendance) I think this is a read flag.

I put all of my BTS info in a big ziploc bag for the parents to take home. I also put the Pop Rocks in there.

I had to search for Pop Rocks at a few different places. I found them in packs of 3 at the second Dollar Tree I went to.  I made labels with the free graphic. They're designed to be printed on Avery 8160 labels. Get the labels here #Freebie

I made a half-sheet booklet of FAQ questions for my parents this year. I tried to think of all of the common questions I get from parents throughout the year and I typed them up in this booklet.







2. Volume!
My class is soooooo loud! I feel like I need a reverse hearing aid. I need something to put in my ear and I can turn down the volume. I really feel as if some of the kids think I'm really old and they have to yell for my sake. They don't! My class goes from quiet as a pin drop to outside voices. There is NO in between. (yet) My 19 kiddos are behavior work in progress. I have to remind myself last year was a heavenly group of students and it's only the beginning of the year. I've also had to be stern Miss Cosby earlier in the year.
I've been thinking about these things:

3. Breakfast

I love breakfast and I really feel it if I don't eat it. I'm trying to make better choices (lower sugars, carbs, and cholesterol). That being said I want it to taste good--and I don't wake up early enough to cook. I also love sleeping. I've been drinking these instant breakfasts. What do you do?

4.  Blog Hoppin' Linky
I posted somethings I do to help myself keep organized in the classroom but I forgot to take some pics. Here are a few:

The tall wooden drawers on the left were an awesome find from my parents. They found it at an auction. It's made from scrapbookers--which I'm not. But, my mom figured I could use it in my room. It has been soooo handy. I posted about using the big 3-drawer carts. Well I also like the little ones. You can see that the middle drawer houses a lot of my Sharpie addiction. And the trays are where I put my daily work.

5. About time!
I posted this on Instagram but I was so excited when I went to TpT and saw this! I've been waiting and hoping for it. My wish list is getting long!

Five for Friday (glad it's back!)

I'm really glad that this linky is back. It's the perfect linky for when I don't always have time to post during the week. I return to school on Monday. Monday will be a day of meetings, finishing touches on my classroom, and then Meet the Teacher from 5-6. It's gonna be a long day. Then on Tuesday I get to meet my firsties. Right now I have 19 but we all know that that number is not set in stone while it's still August.

Without much further ado here's a peek of 5 things from my week.

1. Teacher Blogger Exchange!
I signed up for this teacher blogger exchange thing I saw on Instagram from fellow blogger (and Instagram friend) Covered in Glitter and Glue . It was like B2S Secret Santa. I was paired up with a fellow first grade teacher from Florida. (Shhh, I was a little late sending my package but I had to find just one or two more *just right* items for her.)

I got my package this week.

Isn't that mini-corkboard darling! I also want to put the pink Scotch tape on every single thing I own. It's also hard to see but in the bottom right picture there are some really neat pens and they write lovely...and with pink and purple ink!

2. Working in my room
Like I said...back to work next week. I used to working during the summer and didn't have a lot of free time. These last two years I've decided not to take my summer retail job. Last summer was filled with pool time, road trips, and vacays. (LOVELY) This summer has been hum drum. I've enjoyed the time off, don't get me wrong. Also I hate alarm clocks. I will be happy to be in a routine again though. I've had a lot on my mind and keeping busy has helped.

I went in my room twice this week and got some stuff done (I may have "sneak" in Sunday and do more)

I love these book boxes. My labels fit perfectly, too!! 

I need to make it pretty but these are fake groups for  center time. 

3. Amazon.com
Probably goes without saying but I love www.amazon.com You can find nearly everything on there. I ordered some stuff and got another package this week!!

4. Made some things for my class.

5. Teacher Problems

I may have a Scentos problem. The bucket has markers and and highlighters. The little container has Scentos dry erase markers. 

Dice. I also love dice. Letter dice, number dice, fun dice, polyhedra dice. Love them all.

I also have a ton of Sharpies but I forgot to take a picture. What are you hooked on?

August (B2s) Currently

Hello people! I'm linking up with Farley today to bring you a B2S August Currently. 

Listening--> Bones (daytime tv is not my fave so I won't miss it) It's a Christmas episode. Whenever I watch a Christmas episode during the non-Christmas season it momentarily puts me into the spirit...even if it's Bones and dead bodies and what not.

Loving-->Last summer Indiana had horribly high temps and now we're having a streak of under 80 temps. Today is the first day in over a week it's topped 80...it is cutting into my pool time though.

Thinking-->I've had a lot (a lot a lot a lot) going on in my head right now.

Wanting-->I kinda procrastinated and it just hit me the other day that I go back to school in less than 2 weeks. Oops. I need my stuff unpacked and setup stat!

Needing--> I just need a little carefree time w/ no worries. Unfortunately I don't think adults are granted such a luxury.

B2S must haves-->
1. I have a meet the teacher night the night before school starts so I need to have my stuff to parents printed out and organized.

2. Maybe I'm like a kid going back to school....maybe I'm a girl and like new clothes. Whatever. I just like to have a new outfit or 2 for that first week back. :D

3. I don't know about the upper grades but in first grade I can't leave a book or worksheet with directions on each desk and have the kiddos come in and get to work. I have to have something that is pretty easy to figure out and engaging. I usually do a coloring sheet because the kids file in at different times and some need more help finding their desk than others and some parents want to chitchat when dropping their kiddos off.  I have other coloring pages I've used but they're at school.

I've also seen teachers leave whiteboards on desks, and playdough to keep the younger kids engaged while the day starts.
