Monday Made It & BlogLovin Winners

Hey everyone! I'm here to link up with two of the best linkys around! First I'm linking up with 4th Grade Frolics for Monday Made It. This is my first one of the summer! To be fair...it's my version of Monday Made It...which means Monday remade it.

First of all I want to share that my nearby Michael's and Hobby Lobby are neighbors. Now that I've seen the awesomeness of Hobby Lobby thanks to my Instagram friends I think I'll be spending more time there.
Neighbors people!
Last week I went shopping--mostly teacher shopping. I went to Dollar Tree, Target (two days in a row), Michael's and Hobby Lobby.

I got the following items and headed to school.
stickers $1.99, Binder clips 10 for $1 and tape $3.99
I have those blue cardboard mailboxes in my classroom. They were cheap and I got a set of them for free. They're about 4 or 5 years old now and they're showing their age. They aren't as sturdy as they once were...and frankly I don't care for how they look. But remember...cheap and free. Here's what I came up with!

I have two sets of these but I ran out of tape :( I may eventually wrap the entire exterior in tape but for now I did the front and I reinforced the part in the back where it's folded together. I'm quite happy about my little mailbox makeover. The hope is that I'll get more time out of them--and they'll look spiffy.

So, I got those new bright book boxes from Really Good Stuff.

(Hmm, they're the same colors as the stripes on the duck tape!) Anywho. I offered this freebie exclusive to followers. (click here to see how to get your freebie)

I really liked my number labels for book baskets. Well, I also have 4 trays in the same color scheme. I really like the brightness of the colors. So, I decided to make MORE labels. Some are even editable.

The big labels are full page, and the pages with three labels per sheet are 3.5"x5"
Pre made labels include:

these include some different editable labels than the pic above

If you'd like to get them from TpT click here.

I also made these (perhaps computer made things don't count?)
our math series begins w/ numbers 1-20 check them out on TpT

You'll get number puzzles for number 1-20. There is a full sheet and half sheet version. Both versions are black and white

Students will identify and count tens frames, digits, dominoes, dice, tally marks, and base ten blocks.

First grade standards that could be applied are:
CCSS.Math.Content.1.NBT.B.2a
CCSS.Math.Content.1.NBT.B.2b
CCSS.Math.Content.1.OA.C.6

S&SS: Sweet & Simple Saturday

I'm linking up today with Tales of Frogs and Cupcakes to bring you something Sweet & Simple for your Saturday!

I went to Chicago yesterday and though it was super fun I'm pooped. So...sweet and simple is all I can muster today.

Not sure if you follow me on Instagram but if you do you may have seen that I was working on labels for book baskets.

Well...I went on a label spree. I'm doing D5 (hehe, well my version of D5) and I got snazzy new book boxes from Really Good Stuff. I label most student materials by number and my book boxes are no exception.
(mine are still boxed up in my classroom with the custodians do their deep clean--so I headed to Google)

As you can see they do come with those rectangular labels. They're nice...but I wanted to make my own. I have three different choices for them. I have made them in patterns with different background images. There are numbers 1-30.

I am going to use them for book boxes but they'd be good for cubbies, sorting numbers, grouping students, lunch/attendance count (with magnets on the board), randomly choosing a helper, etc.

If you'd like your own freebie numbers just pin them on Pinterest (share the pin w/ me if you'd like) and leave a comment with your email All comments with emails will receive their freebie numbers in .pdf form. :)

Thanks and happy Sweet & Simple Saturday

Classroom Supply Labels

I was pinning on Pinterest this afternoon and I saw these adorable labels for pencil cups. I saw it quite a few times and I would click to go to the site from which it originated. It never linked to the item and I didn't want to keep hunting. I decided to make my own and you know what...I'm kinda in like with them. I'm going to print, laminate, and tape these to my supply bins/cups.

In my classroom I have tons of pencils and have no problem sharing them however I have the kids trade in their dull pencil for a sharpened one. This cuts down on my pencils disappearing so quickly and finding hoards of dull pencils in the back of their desks. I then sharpen their pencils and they end up in the borrow cup. I also put found pencils in the trade in cup. Click here to download them from my TpT store.

Cleaning out my camera phone

I've had my phone for about a year and a half and I literally have hundreds of photos on there. Most of which are my nephew, my dogs, and my students. I was doing some camera phone cleaning out and I came across some pictures I took from our insect unit. We did a ton of things and I was fortunate to find so many resources. Since I'm at home I do not have the author's name of this great idea. If you know please comment so I can give credit where credit is due. As soon as I go into my classroom I will look it up so I can share it with you all and of course credit the amazing author.

The packet came with labels for each body part of an insect and it even came with a variety of fun shapes to use. I had my kiddos draw their own but I wanted them to use the provided labels and come up with a name for their new insect.

This kiddo was perhaps my best artist.

"Prae Butter Bee" I think it's supposed to be 1/3 praying mantis, 1/3 butterfly, 1/3 bumble bee. So Creative!

This is "Terminator"
It's made up of vicious parts of several powerful insects.

I think next year we'll do more labeling practice but I think that they all got really into it. I don't think I had any kiddos rush through and they all kept asking so many questions. "Is a scorpion an insect? What does a bee head look like?" I projected Google images and we discussed what we saw to answer these questions.
