Building Number Sense & a Giveaway

I posted this yesterday over at Teaching Blog Roundup. I am a co-author (along w/ a bunch of fabulous bloggers).

Here it is in case you didn't see it yesterday.

Something that we work on in first grade is number sense. We need to know what numbers are, how to build numbers, how to break apart numbers, how to spell numbers, different representations of numbers, and well...the whole shabang.

Here's a Pinterest inspired freebie that I made up to use with my firsties. Check out how we practice some of these skills daily:

I'm also jumping on the most awesome pencil sharpener giveaway.

Truth be told...I don't own one---YET! I have entered several giveaways myself trying to get one though. If I don't win I'll be ordering this bad boy (or girl because I'd totally get a pink one, lol) I love my electric sharpener but it is soooo flippin' loud.
Here's how it works:

I have also entered a bunch of giveaways for this sharpener, I am hoping one day I will win. I would love the pink or black one.

I don't have one of these pencil sharpeners but I have heard SO many good things about them! I like the black. It so sleek and shiny :-)
